I got my watercolors out over the summer.  I always find myself returning to this media.  I love the freshness and purity of the brushstrokes I find with watercolor.  This was one of my lessons inspired by a man who grows wonderful glads late in the summer.

This was inspired by a lesson I was teaching on Henri Matisse and how he used pattern and color to capture the essence of his imagery.  I went more of a David Hockney, Walk Around it, approach, incorporating the patterns and flat colors of Matisse, but in greater detail.  Continuing fun with patterns and of course color.

"Jackson"

There was something special about this horse.  He was great fun to ride.  His trot had that swing we all strive for in our horse.  He was fun to paint too.  Time to clean some things up though.

This pair of paintings are 18 x 6 inches each.  They were completed using watercolor techniques, but with food coloring and fabric dyes.  I am cleaning out the studio and would like to see these enjoyed by a bird or nature lover.
