Rocky Mountain Horse Portrait

I just finished this portrait.  I've been experimenting with texture as a ground recently. You can kind of see it in the dog portraits. In this painting I made the texture the grass. Next time I'm going to try some actual sky work. I'm leaving the subject smooth right now.  This is 24x36.  I had to go buy black paint for those guy. I never use black!  It was a change for me.
