Sofa Table by John

The top of this table is made from my old horse stalls.  We planed e wood and put a clear finish on it.  There is some detail on the side panels I cannot capture with the camera.

TV stand

Much of this table is made with left over materials we repurposed rather than threw out.  The wood top is from left over scraps from our hickory flooring in our house. The glass is from a local salvage store. We got a pallet of glass for tables and shelves.

Old Jack end table

Love the color john painted the old jack. As I paint and he creates furniture we are displaying it in our new studio space. It is fun collaborating ( as long as we cooperate). Sometimes we have completely different visions and have to go to our corners for a bit.  We usually work it out. His craftsmanship is so strong and his 3d design is nice. Posting more furniture.

New studio pictures

The walls are fuller now with new watercolor paintings.

Sunflowers on a Sunny Day

9x12 watercolor. $65.00

Still life From Above 9x12. Watercolor $65.00

The action of this painting with tiny peeks of greens in the negative spaces. It always amazes me the depth you can achieve by punching in a few strong negative spaces.  I'm falling in love with yellow again. It can be troublesome to keep transparent.

Roadside Garden

Sunflowers. 9x12.  $65.00
Driving near my home I found this wonderful roadside garden.   It seems to be a lovely gift for all those who drive by everyday.   I have painted several paintings from the pictures I took that day.

Memory Painting

This was done in memory of a friend's grandmother. These flowers were from the funeral.  I turned it into a still life and placed a portrait of grandma in the frame.

Faces of Youth

Here is a series I worked on over the cold winter of 2014.  I am trying to loosen up with acrylics and learn the nature of the media.  I focused on young faces.

Rose
9x12 acrylic
NFS
I love the action of Roses hair.

Jerome
8x10
acrylic $75.00

Hunter's Sister
This young lady visited me one day in my art room.  Her hat was wonderful.
9x12 acrylic
$75.00
Red Head
10x14 acrylic
$80.00
I was on a roll in my studio.  I needed to start one more painting and was out of canvas, so I grabbed an older painting I had never really liked much and painted over it, leaving old painting showing as the background.  The whole painting has a strange texture to it, but it is loose and fun.

The Pout
8x10 acrylic
$75.00
Love that fat lip.

Grace
acrylic
NFS
I was looking for fluidity of the paint on this painting.  I love how it looks as though the paint is still moving on the canvas.

Red Scarf
9x12 acrylic
$50.00

Getting Ready for Spring with some daffodil paintings.   March 2014

14x16 watercolor

I have found myself back at the watercolors after some time with acrylic portrait painting over the cold winter.  No matter what I am working in, it is always about the color and the brush stroke.
